Description
Look at the clock face of your clock. If it says “Kit-Cat”, it’s a 15.5″ size clock; if it says “Kitty-Cat”, it’s a 12.75″ clock.
This lever fits only the 12.75 inch Kitty Cat series of clocks such as the Black KC-1.
If your clock says “model B1” this is not the correct lever for your clock (contact us at [email protected]).
It is installed by removal of the small phillips screw that secures the lever in the movement. The screw must be removed to remove the lever (see instructions below).
NOTE: We recommend removing a broken lever first, before ordering the new one, to be sure you can remove the screw. If it is too tight and can’t be removed, contact us at [email protected] to inquire about other options.
To remove a broken lever, you will need a small phillips-head screwdriver and possibly a pair of pliers. Place the clock face down on a towel with batteries removed. There is a small screw in the center of the lever near the top battery contacts. Try holding the screwdriver upright with firm downward pressure and use the pliers to turn the handle of the screwdriver (helps to have another person). Usually “eyeglass repair” screwdrivers are not strong enough–you may need to get a longer jeweler’s screwdriver. Once you remove the screw, be careful not to lose it. Pull out the black retaining piece of plastic (save this also), then the lever will be free. (After receiving the lever) Insert the new lever with the dark part of the magnet facing the round disk in the clock, and the eyestems in the little slots at the top (you can also insert these after installing the lever, by gently bending the slots and slipping them in). Then reinstall the black plastic retaining piece and screw.
